Description
Mountain Ledge: This photograph was taken near the summit of Mount Washington in Northern New Hampshire in July 2013. Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 feet. It is famous for dangerously erratic weather. The highest wind gust ever recorded on the Summit was 231 mph on the afternoon of April 12, 1934. Before European settlers arrived, the mountain was known as Agiocochook, or "Home of the Great Spirit". Mount Washington is located in the Presidential Range of the White Mountains, in the township of Sargent's Purchase, Coos County, New Hampshire.
