The Pondering Soul: This photograph of a Katydid was taken at James L Goodwin State Forest in Hampton Connecticut. If you've heard the Katydid; You've most likely heard these peaceful sounds in the summer evenings. The males produce sounds through organs on their front wings. The females chirp in response to the song of the males, which sounds like "katy did". The song serves as a function in courtship, which occurs in late summer.
